He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
MICAH 6:8
The mission of the Capital Area Justice Ministry is to build people power for local community justice.
We will achieve this as member congregations work toward the vision of turning out their average worship attendance at least once per year for justice ministry.
Working together to confront systems of inequality and build lasting justice.
A coalition of congregations united for justice in the Capital Area.
Guided by faith to create equity and transform our community.
Our faith communities are well organized to foster our humble walk with God through worship and bible study. We regularly delve into mercy ministries that bind the wounds of individuals in need through tutoring, feeding, and clothing efforts.
However, our congregations often neglect the mandate to do justice. Biblically, justice means holding Pharaoh, money lenders, Caesar, and kings accountable for treating the people with partiality. In our present age, we are called to do justice by holding local officials accountable for creating and carrying out policies and practices that allow people of all races and nationalities, economic standing, sex, ability, and age to live life abundantly through equitable opportunities.
The Capital Area Justice Ministry is committed to developing a powerful local ministry that will engage congregations in actively answering God’s call to “do justice.”
